Iris Charter Chapter Newsletter June/July 2026

Message from President
Let’s Get Down to Business
Soon it will be back to school and back to cool. I hope our July hiatus allowed you more time for relaxation and perhaps a great vacation.
Beginning with our first meeting of the new chapter year on August 4 th you will experience an even stronger focus on the business aspect of our chapter. Our meetings will continue to combine informative, relevant presentations and enjoyable fellowship activities. In addition, future meeting agendas as well new and on-going opportunities will promote our professional development- both personally and as a chapter.
Your Executive Board, in their leadership role, is beginning the annual strategic planning
process. As they identify room for chapter growth in areas including Operational Management, Annual Curriculum, Chapter Strength and Vitality and the ABWA Brand, they will also seek your input. As the chapter year unfolds, member input and participation in leadership development, membership growth and retention, the sustainable value of chapter membership, and the efficacy of our community presence will fuel our journey.
All of the targeted areas listed above address both our professional development and the skills that support beneficial business-like practices. We are, after all, a professional organization dedicated to supporting and empowering women in business as defined in the ABWA mission statement.
All of you will have opportunities .

Tosha Morell - I was recently asked to speak at a church near my hometown on Wise & Gracious Witnessing, Colossians 4:5-6. This opportunity means a lot as I continue growing in my women's ministry and public speaking.

The former Hanleiter Church on West Board Street was purchased by Spalding County has been transformed into a homeless veterans' transitional housing and assistance center. DSP II Waypoint veterans' assistance has relocated from the old Historic Spalding County Jail to this new location. There are 12 single rooms divided between male and female veterans and one large room for a family, plus a small efficiency apartment for a house monitor. The GS Chamber of Commerce Military Affairs
Committee will be leasing the facility from the county and paying for utilities and upkeep. They will be working with Southern Crescent and other community entities to help our veterans get on their feet and back into society. Donation List for Hanleiter Veterans Support Center Although financial support is always needed and appreciated, our more immediate needs to support our resident veterans include the following. Remember that there are 15 bedrooms, so sufficient quantities are always appreciated. However, any amount will be beneficial to our veterans.
SupportTheirHonor.org is the official website of the GSMAC that runs the center.
