ABWA Iris Charter Chapter Newsletter May 2026

Updated: Sep 30
Message from President
Here we are on the cusp of a new chapter year. The waning 2025–2026 chapter year is one of which we should all be proud. There were many great accomplishments, including strong membership growth, a grandly successful fashion show fundraiser and the great leap into the cyber world with our soon-to-be website.
You all know our ABWA mission seeks to promote our professional and personal development as a community of businesswomen who are either active in business or supportive of women in business
and often both. Never forget that each of us is an essential part of that community, one that thrives on teamwork, passion, and shared success.
The participation of each member in chapter endeavors makes our league vibrant and strong. Every time you get involved, not only are you personally benefitting by growing and connecting, you are inspiring others.
During our June chapter meeting I will ask you to complete a very short, five-question survey of member interests. Your collective answers will guide chapter leadership in designing the programs and activities of the coming chapter year as we pursue our mission of professional and personal development – programs designed to help you grow, connect and enjoy every moment.
Please think seriously and deeply about your own needs, your ambitions and direction when you respond to the member survey. Let’s make the coming chapter year the best ever!

Ebony Kompelien
I’m excited to say I graduated with my Bachelor’s degree in Political Science in
December 2025, and now I’m in the middle of earning my Master’s degree in Public
Policy.
For me, this journey has always been bigger than degrees or titles. My prayer is that
the knowledge, experiences, and opportunities gained along the way will help me
serve my community better, create meaningful change, and touch lives in a positive
way. One step at a time, but always with purpose.

Erica Dye receives her diploma at the ACCG Conference for completing
her Certified County Official designation coursework. This completes
the CORE Certifications from the LIfelong Academy

Our ABWA Chapter is a member of the Griffin-Spalding Chamber.
What does that mean for us? Another chance to Network and so much more.
You can see the upcoming events on the Chamber website.
If you are interested in attending any of the events that do not require
registration, feel free to on behalf of ABWA. No need to notify anyone in
advance. This is a great opportunity to network and represent ABWA.
